About Mrs. Coen

Growing up in a rural community in the southeastern corner of Nebraska I always dreamed of the bright lights of the big city.  So, naturally I moved to Kansas City, Missouri. 
While living the dream here in KC, I met and married my husband, Chris.  We have two children: Abigail (7) and Liam (3).
This is my 13th year of teaching.  The past 6 years have been in 3rd grade at Hawthorn Elementary.  In November 2010, I proudly achieved National Board Certification in teaching.  (Click www.nbpts.org to find out more about this.) 
For fun, I enjoy reading, cooking, going to movies, traveling and spending time with my family.
